It has been a bumper year at the Magazine website with more than 10,000 visits from nearly 4,000 people, that's ten times the circulation of the print edition. To cope with the traffic we have added an extra server. It deals with the thousands of downloads you request. When you see "dainsbury.org.uk" in the top line of your browser, you have not been hijacked. It's just The Magazine's new helper. See the 2011 Report or go to the Tech page for full details.

Local concerns
Atlantic Array, RWE and the Russian connection
Opposition to Atlantic Array seems to be hardening, several organisations have contacted us in this last month. The political climate is changing. Green power is no longer to be created at any cost. Subsidies for on-shore wind power have already been cut in Scotland and we anticipate some changes in England and Wales. A cut in subsidy will frighten off many developers. We remind you that planning for all but the smallest wind farms resides in England, not at the Senedd.

Atlantic Array developers, German power giant RWE, have withdrawn from the development of new nuclear plant at Oldbury, Gloucester and Wylfa B, Anglesey. They are reported to be suffering financial strains as a result of Germany’s decision to close all nuclear generation following the Fukushima disaster. They might not be in a position to continue with the expensive £5bn Bristol Channel project.

The existing Wylfa Reactor 2 shut a few days early on 25 April. It had run since 1971. The Russian nuclear operator Rosatom has been evaluating the site.

Festivities
Our villages are gearing up for fun. Llanmadoc offers ‘007 Dressed to kill’, a dance with the Morriston Big Band on Saturday May 19. Llangennith offers a Jubilee Ball on Saturday June 2. For both of these see page 21. Then on Monday 4 June Llangennith offers a Jubilee party with kids' competitions, a Party Tea and much more. See page 25
Hi-Tech gardening
Greenfingers ‘The Flowers’ offers nematode worms to get rid of slugs, couldn’t happen to a nicer garden pest. You keep them in the fridge, that’s the worms not the slugs. I think that’s right, see page 8

We always try to carry about events you plan to hold. We publicise them in the print edition of the Magazine and on the web. Often you tell us how things went and we try to include a paragraph about that. What we don’t do is print pictures, pictures that are worth a thousand words, not just now but in years to come.
Our Picture Post changes that. Now you can see your event. The people who took part in your event can see it. Your friends and relatives can see it. Just email your pictures to us here
